UP government to launch teacher training programme from October 25 to December 10

The Uttar Pradesh government has initiated a training programme for teachers and Shiksha Mitras across the state. This programme, conducted by the Basic Education Department, will run from October 25 to December 10, with the primary aim of enhancing children’s proficiency in fundamental language and mathematical subjects as part of the National Initiative for Proficiency in Reading with Understanding and Numeracy (Nipun Bharat), according to an official statement.

As part of this endeavour, training for block-level referrers will occur at the District Institute for Education and Training (DIET) between October 25 and November 4. Simultaneously, the training for all primary school teachers and Shiksha Mitras will take place at the Block Resource Centres from November 6 to December 10. Notably, voluntary organisations with expertise in Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) will also be encouraged to participate in this training. Additionally, principals and teachers who have achieved up to 80% of the ‘Nipun’ target in their schools will have the opportunity to share their successful experiences, the statement mentioned.

These exceptional headmasters and teachers will be given 10 minutes to share their success stories with all the teachers and will be honoured during the training sessions. To ensure the effectiveness of teacher training, monitoring will be conducted at both the state and district levels. Additionally, payments related to teacher training under the Nipun Bharat Mission will now be directly transferred to the accounts of all teachers. A total of Rs 2,941 lakh has been allocated to cover all expenses associated with this training campaign, it added.
