Good news for Delhiites! The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has decided to operate additional trains across its network from today. These special services are part of the various measures being adopted by the Delhi government to combat pollution under Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP)-II stage.
Delhi Metro Special services:-
The DMRC will run 50 additional train trips on weekdays i.e. Monday to Friday across its corridors starting today (October 25, 2023) till further order. This has been planned to intensify the use of public transport among passengers across Delhi-NCR. The DMRC usually operates more than 4300 train trips everyday.
Delhi’s Air Quality Index (AQI):-
The AQI in the national capital has improved marginally on Tuesday but it’s still in the poor category. On Sunday, the city’s air quality had turned “very poor” for the first time since May this year. This was mainly due to a drop in temperature and wind speed, which allowed pollutants to accumulate.
Recently, it achieveda remarkable milestone of becoming the longest metro route in the country. This has been possible with the opening of Dwarka Sector-21 to Yashobhoomi Dwarka Sector–25 Metro section on Airport Express Line corridor. The city’s rapid transit network has become 393 kms long with 288 stations (including the Noida – Greater Noida Metro Corridor and Rapid Metro, Gurugram).
