The National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) has adopted various latest security technologies on the country’s first Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS). The Priority Section of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor was opened last week following the inauguration by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on October 20. The modern security system in the Sahibabad-Duhai Depot stretch ensures the security and safety of the passengers. In a statement, the NCRTC said, “NCRTC endeavors to reduce the time spent at security checks as much as possible by using the latest technology and AI, just as the travel time is being reduced by the Namo Bharat trains in this Regional RapidTransitSystem.”
List of upgraded security system over Priority Section of the Delhi-Meerut RRTS corridor:-
Use of Artificial Intelligence:
The Priority Section of the RRTS Corridor is equipped with the Artificial Intelligence (AI)- enabled security system. This helps to detect any sort of unlawful activities.
Security in Namo Bharat trains:
A total of 36 CCTV cameras have been installed in each Namo Bharat train set. It will issue alerts regarding any unauthorized entry, unclaimed luggage, overcrowding etc. A dedicated Security control room is also monitoring the safety and security aspects of passengers round the clock.
Multi Zone Door Frame Metal Detector (DFMD):
The NCRTC has installed DFMD for security screening of the passengers at the time of entry into the stations. The DFMD will conduct full head-to-toe screening of the commuters, and thereby prevent any suspicious item from reaching inside the station.
Baggage Scanners:
The baggage scanners at the RRTS stations are AI enabled. These scanners have the capability to easily scan luggage even of the size allowed in international travel. These AI techs include a Dual View Generator X-Ray Baggage Inspection System. With its help, images of both the upper and lower parts of the bag passing through the scanner will appear on the computer screen and the AI system will automatically identify the restricted/prohibited items and alert the operator. It will prove to be helpful in further strengthening the security of commuters.
Deployment of Security personnel:
The Uttar Pradesh government has tasked the Uttar Pradesh Special Security Force (UPSSF) for the security of all the stations. In addition, Quick Reaction Team, Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad and Dog Squad Team etc. have also been deployed by UP Police for the investigation and prevention of law-and-order crimes in stations.
Designated Police Station:
The government has also opened a designated police station in Ghaziabad Commissionerate with the responsibility for keeping security paramount. It has also made a provision for a police post at each station to enforce law and order.
