E-commerce for MSMEs: The sellers under the Walmart Vriddhi Supplier Development Program (Walmart Vriddhi) — a growth and learning platform comprising training and support for MSMEs have recorded a year-on-year increase of over 70 per cent in sales through Flipkart’s Big Billion Days Sale, the company said in a statement. Launched in 2019, Walmart Vriddhi said it has empowered 40,255 MSMEs across the country, providing them with the tools and knowledge needed to thrive in the digital age.
The Vriddhi programme offers free training, expert assistance, tools and skills to small businesses to grow and expand their ventures. It also conducts training seminars and mentoring sessions.
Earlier, before the Big Billion Days, Flipkart announced crossing the 1.4 million seller mark with a 27 per cent growth over last year. A majority of new sellers on the platform were from Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities such as Jammu, Vellore, Kanyakumari, Kollam, Ludhiana, Mangalore, etc., selling goods under lifestyle, books, general merchandise and home categories.

In another initiative focused on artisans, weavers and small entrepreneurs, Flipkart Samarth registered a 300 per cent growth in sellers registered in the last year. The company said that the initiative has positively impacted 15 lakh livelihoods across the country.
Launched in 2007, the Flipkart marketplace has over 150 million products across more than 80 categories, with a registered customer base of 45 crore users. In comparison, Amazon India, which completed its 10 years in India, has more than 12 lakh sellers and has digitized over 40 lakh small businesses.
