Uttrakhand: Six killed as car falls into Kali river in Pithoragarh

Six people were killed after a car fell into the Kali river in Pithoragarh district of Uttrakhand on Tuesday.

The Superintendent of Police for Pithoragarh, Lokeshwar Singh, said that the incident occurred late in the evening on the Dharchula-Lipulekh road as the victims were returning from their ‘darshan’ at Adi Kailash, PTI reported.

Out of the six victims, two were from Bengaluru, two from Telangana, and two from Uttarakhand, as confirmed by SP Lokeshwar Singh.

Expressing his condolences, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami conveyed his grief at the loss of lives and offered prayers for the families.

Due to the adverse geographical conditions and the darkness, the authorities were unable to commence the process of recovering the bodies, PTI reported.
